Scott Falbe, Founder and CEO
Scott Falbe founded Intelligent Lighting Creations, Inc. (ILC) in January of 1994. While attending the Theatre School at DePaul University majoring in Lighting Design, it became clear to Scott that there was a need for a company that specialized in automated lighting equipment rentals, a genre of theatrical and entertainment lighting that was just starting to make its way into a new breed of corporate meetings. Although the company’s first few years were spent focusing entirely on automated lighting and cutting edge control systems, often with Scott himself spending countless hours behind the lighting console, clients eventually began insisting that Scott and ILC be the sole lighting and rigging vendor for their shows. By the late 90’s, Scott, ILC, and what was then a full time staff of six was regarded by clients and competitors alike as a Midwest leader in automated and conventional lighting, rentals and system sales. Today, Scott focuses his staff of 25 on the daily and short term goals of ILC while he strategizes the next big steps for ILC.

Scott is also a commercial rated multi-engine pilot. In an industry where “the show must go on”, Scott and ILC have been known to go above and beyond in the pursuit of meeting our client’s unique and timely needs.

Samantha Falbe, President
Samantha Falbe officially joined Intelligent Lighting Creations in January of 2008. However, she has been working with her husband, Scott, behind the scenes since the company’s inception 15 years ago. Samantha received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from the Theatre School at DePaul University in 1998. After graduation, she joined Schuler Shook, a Chicago based consulting firm specializing in theatre & architectural lighting design, and worked closely with architects and engineers on museums and commercial buildings. After two years at Schuler Shook, Samantha returned to her theatre roots and spent the following five years at Images in Illuminations project managing large-scale corporate productions. In 2005, Samantha set her sights on a completely different industry and became a certified personal trainer. For the next eighteen months, she was self-employed providing in-home training on Chicago’s North Shore, and also worked for Equinox and Fitness 19. In 2007, ILC rapid growth continued and relocated its headquarters to Arlington Heights. Signaling the beginning of another growth spurt for ILC, the timing was right for Samantha to join ILC in a formal leadership role as its president.

In Samantha’s spare time, she is an equestrian polo player rated for both indoor and outdoor play. She has owned several polo ponies and has competed all over the U.S.

Sales

Bob Moisan, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Bob started as a driver for an Audio-Visual company in 1993 and grew to become Director of Operations for a nationwide production company coordinating shows ranging from corporate events to nationwide fashion tours . Joining ILC in 2003 as General Manager, Bob continues to design special event, corporate and exhibit lighting productions throughout the country.

Ryan Bundy, Senior Account Executive
Ryan Bundy studied Theatre Design at The Ohio State University where in 1997 he earned an MFA in Lighting Design. At OSU in addition to designing various shows and serving as a teaching associate, he was responsible for the OSU Moving Lights Laboratory. After a successful internship at Vari-Lite, Ryan returned to Chicago where he worked for the Vari-Lite Production Services Chicago office serving in various roles including Lighting Technician, Shop Supervisor, and Operations Manager. Ryan joined ILC in 2001 and in his current role as Senior Account Manager enjoys working with Houses of Worship, Theatres, and Production Companies.

Matt Pearlman, Senior Account Executive
Matt has been in the lighting industry for over 15 years providing design and technical support for events and installations in a variety of venues nation wide. Returning to ILC in 2006 as Account Executive, Matt draws on his past experience to help his clients reach and exceed their production goals.

Justin Wardell, Account Executive
Justin studied Psychology and Technical Theatre at Washington University in St. Louis.  After earning his Bachelors of Science in 2004, he moved to Chicago where he joined a small scenic production company and pursued his interest in lighting as a freelance electrician and lighting designer in the vibrant Chicago storefront theatre industry.  As his design career developed, he had the opportunity to design for theatre and dance in venues across the country.  In 2006 he began running the rental department for a Chicago-based lighting company, where he was eventually promoted to Rental, Production, and Retail Sales Manager.  Justin joined ILC in 2010 as an account executive, where he uses his extensive knowledge of design to work with event companies, theatres, and houses of worship to develop innovative and elegant lighting solutions.  

Jose Villalpando, Inside Rental & Retail Sales
Jose has been in the A/V industry since 2003 and has been in sales since 1999. His interest for the A/V industry grew during his time as a sales consultant for a major retail audio/lighting/instrument. He then went on to work for hotel A/V services which eventually landed him a position as a rental manager at a full service A/V house. Within a year he was promoted to a project manager position and has worked with several major corporate clients providing them complete show solutions. His experience as a rental manager eventually landed him his current position with ILC. On his spare time he puts out dance records on the international electronic music scene.

Production

Terry Heisler, Production Services Manager
Terry hails from Western Canada with 24 years of lighting industry experience including several years of concert touring. After his back and liver gave out, Terry decided to start a small lighting design company which he ran for 7 years. Falling for an American Girl, he jumped a plane for Chicago and discovered baseball and light beer. Upon arriving he worked with Lightswitch as a designer and Event Creative as a production manager. He stays active by playing old man hockey twice a week and chasing 2 crazy dogs around Glenview.

Matt "Big Deal" Grinko, Production Project Manager
Production has been a lifestyle choice for Matt. He has been a live production technician for over a decade now. Matt started in the standard run down theatres with bare bones equipment and worked his way up to the luxury of using ILC's well maintained, state of the art gear to execute some of the most unique shows. He has been a project Manager for 3years now and looks forward to the progression of the production department with ILC.

Stacey Westbrook, Production Project Manager
Stacey is native Californian and moved to Illinois in 2005 because she heard that all four seasons in the midwest are charming. She got involved in theatre in 1983 and received her BFA in lighting from a small liberal arts college in 1991 which got her a gig bar-tending in a drag club in West Los Angeles so.... she got an MFA in lighting design in 1997. Stacey eventually landed a job with Walt Disney Imagineering designing lighting for theme parks.  Later on, she joined Lightswitch where for the past 8 years has had the opportunity to design a bit of everything else.  She's truly excited to be a part of the ILC team and learn why it is that everyone drinks so much. When there's spare time she spends it watching soccer, gardening (it's rewarding and cheaper than therapy) and then there's her experimental cooking...

Mike Aschenbach, Systems & Special Orders Project Manager
Mike has worked in theatre since 1993 in just about every conceivable position behind the scenes.  He received his BFA in theatre from the University o0f Wisconsin -  Whitewater in 2004 and his MFA from the University of Florida in 2007 focusing on lighting design and technology.  Since 2007 he has done project management for large lighting systems in the Chicago area.

Joby Benoit, Systems Integration Project Manager
At the age of 2 young Joby learned how to flip a light switch, this was the beginning of his long journey into lighting. From there he mastered the dining room chandelier dimmer and by the age of 7 he was throwing light switch raves in his family room and doing masterful work with Christmas lights on the side. Joby came to ILC right out of high school in 2006 and now handles systems installations for projects throughout the country.

Scott Hosford, Vice President of Operations
Scott began his career at ILC in 2001. Beginning as a Warehouse Technician, he has assumed many roles in the company during his tenure. A native of Chicago, “Hos” has a degree in Theatre Arts from The University of Iowa. He is a die-hard Bears and White Sox fan.

Geoff Vines, Senior Repair Technician
Geoff started in the industry in 2002 as a driver and joined ILC in 2005 as a Repair Technician. He is a certified Vari-Lite technician and has had training from High End Systems, Electronic Theatre Controls and Tomcat. He also has extensive experience servicing Martin equipment and has worked on many other manufacturers' equipment.

Frank Sladek, Warehouse Supervisor
Frank is a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He has been with ILC for years and recently took over thge position of Warehouse Supervisor which upholds the quality of equipment leaving our shop.

John Rodriguez, Logistics Coordinator
John is a native of California, moving to Chicago 4 years ago. He has 15 years of production management experience in film and most recently, event production.  John feels production is a great challenge because of the variables involved in each project. In his spare time, John cooks for his friends, watches movies and hockey, and still makes short movies.

Zach Johnson-Dunlop, Warehouse Technician
Zach has been working for ILC for a few years now - driving trucks, working in the shop and various other duties when not on the road.  He is a graduate of Millikin University with a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Technical Theatre and is a heavily active participant in the Chicago theatre community.  If you have an order delivered, it is more than likely that you will see him at some point walking around without a jacket regardless of the cold. 

Chuck Fleischacker, Vice President of Finance
Chuck joined ILC in 2004 as Chief Financial Officer. He has over 19 years of experience in various facets of Accounting and Strategic Planning. He also has his CPA license. He is married with 2 children and in his free time enjoys golfing and fishing.

Martin Szuster, Staff Accoutant
Graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago.  Joined ILC in 08/10 as Staff Accountant. I like to fish, rollerblade, and play sports.  Religiously watch the Chicago Bears.  Da Bears!
